LAKE AINSWORTH At the Northern end of town, you will find peaceful body of fresh water, called Lake Ainsworth. Well known for its Tea tree infused cola coloured water, and a popular picnic location for locals and visitors. The Lake is conveniently located 100m West of the Surf Club, and is a great buffer on those blowy Nor-Easter days, where you can still cool off in the water, or unwind on the beautiful banks of the lake beneath the canopy of ancient paperbarks. The proximity to the surf club means you can grab coffee and snacks easily, SURFING With world class surf breaks on your door step you are spoilt for choice when it comes to catching a few waves in the Northern Rivers. Lennox Head Point break is a great option for experienced surfers, as well as Sharpes, Boulders and Flat rock to the south which offer some great alternative beach & point breaks. Head North 15 minutes to Broken Head for sandy beach breaks galore. Make sure you stop off at Suffolk Park bakery for the best post-surf pie around. BEACHES 7 Mile beach is a beautiful stretch of sand to get lost on. Literally seven miles of unspoiled beach to run, swim, bike and surf....or just chill out. Heading north from the Surf Club, is a dog-friendly section of beach, South of the Surf Club you will find several swimming channels dotted along the fringes of the rock shelf, first carved out for swimmers back in the 1920s.

Lake Ainsworth

The Lake is situated north of the town and 50 metres behind the dunes. The lake is a fresh water lagoon that is permanently discouloured by tea-tree tanins leaching from the treas that surround the lake. There are free electric BBQs and plenty of picnic tables The ti-trea water is said to have health giving and rejuvenating properties.

Whales can be easily seen from the Pat Morton Lookout at the top of the Lennox Headland. There is a walking track that leads east along the headland to one or two other prime viewing positions. Whales pass by Lennox Headland in June/July on their annual migrationto warmer waters and then they pass again heading south during September/October.

Local Surf Breaks

The Lennox National Surfing Reserve which incorporates the surfing breaks at Flat Rock, Boulder Beach, Lennox Point and Lennox Main Beach meets the criteria for Reserve status. These breaks have been surfed by thousands since the late 1950.

Take a walk up along the boardwalk which goes all the way up to the Lennox Point look out, you can also walk over to Boulders Beach if you are feeling adventurous. There is a footpath which starts at Rutherford St and continues around the Point also that is perfect to take the kids for a bike ride.
